Viniyoga
Viniyoga focuses on the direction of movement of the spine, the breath/movement relationship, and the function and adaptability of yoga poses. Students will have the opportunity to to explore yoga asana (poses), pranayama (breathwork), moving energy, bandha (energy locks), chanting, meditation, ritual and the study of the yoga sutras/ancient texts. This class will focus on the repetition/stay pattern in many postures and also mini flows.
Each class will begin with a specific intention meant to facilitate the movement of energy throughout class and allow student an opportunity to “drop into” themselves to explore the multifaceted multidimensional beings they are. The intention also offers students an opportunity to reflect on how they can bring yoga back into “the real world” with them. Allowing them an opportunity to bring this ancient practice into their modern lives.
Viniyoga honors the authentic transmission of teachings as received from T.K.V. Desikacar & T. Krisnamacarya. Some classes may involve; chanting of seed or expanded mantras to move energy through the cakras (chakras) during the poses (asana), reflecting on/chanting versus from the yoga sutras or using hand mudras to facilitate energy flow along with the asana practice.
