Our Story
Hello! It’s Jen here to share a bit about me and my personal story that led me to opening Jenstar Movement Studio.
My earliest memories in my life were of me constantly dancing and singing songs. I was always entertaining people. I had a love for dance that took me from the studio as a child, to a degree in dance in college, to a professional career in my twenties. I did well for myself and accomplished most of what I set out to do. I also got to live in some amazing places (Las Vegas, New Orleans, New York).
At one point I no longer wanted to deal with the constant judgement and brutally cut throat competitive nature that comes with working in the entertainment industry. I walked away before it had the chance to break me. At the time I carried so much guilt. I felt like a quitter that threw my talent away. However, the reality was that the entertainment industry no longer served me and my needs. I knew in my heart that I needed to pursue my next great adventure.
Yoga never completely captured me until I consistently picked up the practice while living in Miami, FL. The movement felt good in my body, but the best part was the stillness and peacefulness I felt after class. My type A “go getter” personality felt balanced out. I did the work I had to do to rebuild my confidence, heal, and find happiness. Simply stated, I began to love myself again. That was powerful! Suddenly my life’s path was clear as day. I wanted to support other people on their journey to self love. I made the decision to pursue the path of yoga (it’s a life long one) and become a yoga instructor.
During my childhood years, I dreamed of one day becoming a dancer who would later open a dance studio to teach kids. I would talk about my vision of business ownership when I was 10 years old. I revisited that idea again at age 30. My new vision was that of a MOVEMENT studio for adults. I didn’t want to box the idea into just one modality (like yoga), because I do believe that people need various types of movement in their fitness and wellness routine.
Brick and mortar Jenstar “The Movement Studio” officially opened in 2013 in De Pere, Wisconsin and has since moved to Green Bay. While my first love is in-person classes, we now also offer virtual classes beyond the Green Bay Yoga community. Anyone around the world can attend a class online. Maybe we’ll see you in one sometime?!

Jenstar Studio Philosophy
I have been an entrepreneur for over 11 years and a studio owner the last 8 years. I consider myself a movement educator and fitness lover, always seeking to live with purpose. It means a lot for me to be authentic in anything that I do and plug in whole-heartedly. This carries over into the business I own, the instructors I collaborate with, and the beautiful community of people we have connected with over the years.
Fitness is multi-dimensional. It is a blend of physical movement, mental wellness, nutrition, life skills, financial, social circle (community) ect. Whether our offerings are online or in-person, we continue to hold energy space for people to come together and work on their various fitness levels. Are you willing to show up for yourself, even when life is messy?
